National History Day

Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at WVU

Greetings everyone. If any of you are interested in pursuing National History Day with your students, here is an excellent video from Minnesota that gives a good overview of how students can address this year’s theme and how they can organize themselves to get the most out of the program. For your convenience I have also attached PDFs of various documents such as the theme book and contest rules

WV Studies students can take advantage of the excellent primary and secondary sources available at the WV State Archives and Culture Center. Please contact Education Manager Nancy.P.Herholdt@wv.gov to learn more about how the archives can help your students learn about WV.

THEME VIDEOS

Multiple organizations made videos about the Taking A Stand in History theme. They help students pick topics and learn about research resources. Go to https://www.nhd.org/kenneth-e-behring-national-contest and click on the link near the bottom right of the page.

If you have questions about National History Day please feel free to contact me or Nate Hess at nrhess@mix.wvu.edu. The state competition will be held on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at WVU. Students will have an opportunity to tour the campus if they wish.
