WV Department of Archives and History
Joe Geiger from the West Virginia Department of Archives & History shares with you that the mission of their department is to “protect WV History and provide educational opportunities for our students.” This site is a great source of primary sources that may connect with students in West Virginia as it is local and relevant to their daily lives. 8th grade WV history teachers have long used the site, and other programatic levels will find great resources to help move their learners in social studies. Also, schools are encouraged schedule visits that can be personalized to the needs and constraints of each group.
